i didn't quite get the ranges mechanic. does it mean how far the guess is from the target? it looks like always betting on 3 will win everything that's not hard.
it also got me thinking about the street origins of the craps. i think that dice-light systems are ok for streets and public spaces if executed well. my group actually tried Cairn on the go, but it required a little too much dice. Did anyone tried EZD6 on the go yet?
Sorry if that’s unclear. The range is the range of numbers you and the GM are choosing from on your fingers. So if the check is mild, you’re both choosing 1 or 2 fingers and revealing. If you chose the same number as the GM, you succeed.
oh, so it's how many fingers, not what fingers lol.
so it's 1/n chance to match for people who's fingers are as random as dice. i'm new to probability math and it's riveting.
i instantly thought of a tiny glass jar with 2d4, 2d6 and 2d10 to mimic same chances to match
Great concept!
I was wondering: in case of vs. check, what would be the range of the number to be chosen by the other mage?
Thanks!
It depends on what the first mage is attempting. It’s mild to hit most opponents. But if they’re attempting something that requires more power or more finesse, it would be more difficult.
I'm in love with this concept. Keep up the good work.
if only my wife, and all the other nerds I know, were not so very shy in public. May have to play solo on my morning walks, though that will take some adaptation. Regardless, this book is absolutely cute and well put together. The resolution mechanic is neat! Love the rules that bring imagination to public spaces—something I haven’t really indulged in since I was a child.
thanks! I gotta say when we played at the mall on a busy day, not a single person noticed us. It felt very anonymous, because everyone else was talking and going about their own business. Similarly, a quiet day around my neighborhood we saw hardly anybody, but somehow it felt less anonymous than when we were at the mall.
This is so cool! I will try it out on my morning commute!
